The City Rail Link (CRL) project contract 5 and 7 involves the construction of a new underground railway line spanning approximately 3.4km of tunnel railway systems and 2.8km of catenary construction through the heart of Auckland's CBD linking to the North Auckland Line. The project aims to enhance transport capacity, accessibility, and urban development while fostering economic growth and sustainability.

TED Rail has played a pivotal role in the success of CRL by providing multiple specialized services including:

  • Client contract interface

Wiri EMU Depot Expansion

Auckland, New Zealand | Project value $36m

The Wiri EMU Depot is a 550m purpose-built facility supporting Auckland’s growing electric fleet for the City Rail Link. It features 10 new stabling roads and acts as a key hub for ongoing fleet maintenance.

TED Rail was engaged to provide oversight of the OLE construction, ensuring design compliance, quality control, and safe delivery across a multidisciplinary build, including:

  • MSQA – OLE construction

  • Produce OLE Temporary Works Staging Design

  • On site inspections and monitoring

  • Design compliance review

  • ITP verification

  • Testing and Commissioning plan

  • Engineering Acceptance

Henderson Station

Auckland, New Zealand

The project formed part of the wider development of Henderson Station and its third platform, requiring the existing electrification infrastructure to be progressively modified and reconfigured while maintaining the safe operation of Auckland’s busy Western Line.

TED Rail services delivered:

  • Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) engineering and technical assurance

  • Site support, inspections and quality compliance

  • Design reviews and technical advisory services

  • Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation

  • Testing, commissioning and Engineering Completion

City Rail Link

As part of City Rail Link wider network upgrades including Otahuhu station 3rd main, Britomart station upgrade and Strand upgrade. OHW and traction lead for the construction contractor.

CRL contracts 1, 8 and 9 wider network upgrades includes Otahuhu station 3rd main, Britomart station and platforms, The Strand crossover upgrade.

TED Rail provided the following services:

Manchester MetroLink

Manchester, UK

Development of the greater Manchester light rail network including the Airport. On completion of Phase 3 the Metrolink became the largest light rail network in the UK.
